Munich, in German München, is the third largest city in Germany, and the most visited after Berlin.
Munich is a modern, cosmopolitan city which boasts of a long heritage. The city is a major centre of art, culture, innovation, education, business, and tourism.

Munich lies about 50 km (30 miles) north of the edge of the Alps. Its airport, located 28.5 km (17.7 miles) northeast of Munich, is the second busiest airport in Germany in terms of passenger traffic. The airport features two passenger terminals and flights from 248 destinations worldwide.

Munich is located 500 metres (1,600 feet) above sea level, and the climate is continental with cold winters, and mild or pleasantly warm summers. Munich has a significant amount of rainfall during the year, also during the dry months.
