I obtained my MD degree at University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) in 2007. From 2008 to 2012 I performed my medical specialization in Allergy at Hospital ClÃnico San Carlos (Madrid, Spain) through the "MIR" fellowship system. In 2011 I obtained my Advanced Studies Diploma in Immunology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with a work focused on food allergy diagnosis. During my fellowship years I performed a 3-month research rotation in Proteomics (plant-food allergen characterization) at Prof Fernando Vivanco´s group (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid), and a 4-month research rotation in Mast Cell Biology (in vitro murine model of mast cell specific desensitization) at Prof Mariana Castells’ group at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA).
After completing my medical specialization, I joined Prof Frode Jahnsen’s group at the Center for Immune Regulation, University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital (Norway). My research activity was focused on the role of monocytes and macrophages in human airway allergy. I obtained my PhD in Immunology at the University of Oslo in 2016. During my PhD years I also worked as a collaborator teacher in Immunology at the University of Oslo.
In 2016 I joined the Allergy Unit and Research group at the Regional University Hospital of Malaga and Biomedical Research Institute of Malaga (IBIMA) currently headed by Prof Maria Jose Torres. In this group I work as allergy consultant and postdoctoral researcher with activities focused on nasal inflammatory disorders.
From 2013 to 2017 I served as the JM representative at EAACI Immunology Section and as board member of the JM Working Group. I was a founder member of the EAACI JM-Clinical and Translational Allergy journal collaboration, and from 2015 I was the coordinator of the EAACI JM Mentorship Programme Team. As board member of the Immunology Section I collaborated with the organization of several Immunology Winter Schools and with ISMA 2017, and I was the local organizer of the 2017 Winter School in Sierra Nevada (Granada, Spain). In 2017 I was elected as the JM Chairperson for the term 2017-2019. I am very honored to hold this position through which I aim to increase the visibility of JM and their involvement in EAACI scientific output. One of my main goals is to address the needs and concerns of JM with different geographical origins and professional backgrounds (basic scientists, MD with different specialties...), and I will highly appreciate any help and suggestions from the rest of the JM Assembly board and EAACI Junior Membership.
