Master Class on Translational Immunology in Allergic Diseases (21 – 22 October 2016, Zurich, Switzerland)

Master Class on Translational Immunology in Allergic Diseases
21 – 22 October 2016
Zurich, Switzerland

Organisers: EAACI Immunology Section and the Biologicals Interest Group

In 2016, for the first time, the Immunology Section and the Biologicals Interest Group of EAACI will organise a Master Class on Translational Immunology in Allergic Diseases. State of the art training on novel therapies and current unmet needs in allergic disorders will be addressed. Participants will receive the knowledge and training required to effectively use these immunological tools in the clinic.

Programme
The Master Class will be held over two days and will include plenary style lectures, coupled with interactive case discussion sessions.

During the first day, leading experts in the field will provide comprehensive updates on how to identify phenotypes and immunological endotypes in patients suffering from asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, urticaria, food allergy, eosinophilic esophagitis and those patients undergoing immunotherapy. The basic immunological mechanisms underpinning these clinical phenotypes and endotypes will also be discussed.

During the second day, there will be detailed clinical presentations on the use of anti-IgE, anti-IL-5, anti-IL-4 and anti-IL-13 in the clinic. Specifically, participants will learn how and when to use these biologics, how to prevent, recognise and manage side-effects and how to treat difficult patients. Interactive sessions involving case presentations by faculty and participants will ensure that the new knowledge can be applied in a real world setting. Finally, novel immune targets and microbiome targets currently in development and clinical trials for allergy and asthma patients will be discussed.

Target Audience
Whereas EAACI’s Allergy Schools are tailored for more junior attendees, the Master Class requires a higher level of professional experience and offers an excellent platform for exchange of knowledge. However, age is not a criterion for exclusion.
The target audience is specialised clinicians working in the fields of allergy and asthma who want to know more about the link between clinical presentation and treatment options with biologics based on endotyping.

CME Accreditation
This Masterclass has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) in cooperation with the European Board of Accreditation in Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EBAACI) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The Congress has been designated for 9 hours of European external CME credits (ECMECs).*

SSAI accreditation
The Swiss Society for Allergology and Immunology (SSAI) has evaluated this event. The programme of the event has been accepted as valid for continuous medical education and is accredited with 12 credits SSAI.

Submission of case reports
This Master Class will have an interactive session in which difficult cases submitted by attendees will be discussed. Please contact EAACI HQ at education@eaaci.org for further information if you would like to discuss a case.
